Frustrated by the lack of quality grab and go breakfast on the market, Tom Mercer, launched MOMA in February 2006. Toms aim was to give customers something they really wanted a breakfast that was genuinely healthy, 100% natural, filled you up, and was delicious! The MOMA Oatie Breakfast is made with wholegrain jumbo oats, low-fat probiotic yoghurt, and a big spoon of fruit. Tom started selling MOMA to commuters in Waterloo station in London, from a stall that was made from a converted filing cabinet. MOMA now has 7 stalls in London stations (no longer made from filing cabinets!) and supplies its breakfasts into a host of other outlets from airlines and supermarkets, to universities, offices, and coffee shops. MOMA is now trading at an annualised turnover of 2.5M, and aims to be nationally recognised as the best grab-and-go breakfast on the market. Tom believes that an unerring focus on the quality of the MOMA products, and a resilient pursuit of innovative ways to overcome obstacles will enable MOMA to continue to grow rapidly and achieve its ambitious goals.
